Avril appeared at the closing ceremonies of the Olympics and performed “My Happy Ending” and “Girlfriend” while looking great in a red dress.  Take a look at the video of her performance below and let us know what you think about it!

Avril went to the premier of Alice in Wonderland last night in London, and then was spotted leaving a club with her former husband later in the evening.  Are they really just friends as Avril says, or is she having second thoughts about filing for divorce?

Earlier this month, it was announced that Avril had signed a deal to promote Proactiv, and now the ads are live!

Avril has been laying low for quite a while as she recovers from the end of her marriage to Deryck Whibley, but she is now out promoting her song for the new movie Alice in Wonderland.  She said that she started off by doing a collaboration with Disney for her clothing line, and they accepted her offer to write the theme song for the movie!

Avril was a guest judge on American Idol this week.  She watched auditions in L.A. and commented on the stream of aspiring singers that auditioned for the show, along with the regular judges of the show.

Avril seemed to be impressed by Mary Powers’ cover of “Love Is a Battlefield,” but spent most of her time trying not to laugh at all of the poor singers attempting to land a spot on the show.

It has been reported for weeks that Avril and her husband have split up, but it became official today.  Avril has filed for divorce from Deryck Whibley citing irreconcilable differences.

This must be a sad day for her, but hopefully she will be able to move on and create some new music soon.

Avril posted a note on her website today saying that she has separated from her husband of 3 years, Deryck Whibley.  She says that they are moving forward on a positive note, and that they will still be friends.

There hasn’t been much news about Avril or her music recently, but I
wanted to send out an update on what she has been up to. She has
launched a new fragrance called Black Star that should be available in
the U.S., Canada and Europe this summer. She also has been seen
out
partying without her husband a lot, stirring rumors that her and Deryck
are not happy with each other. Hopefully she is also working on new
projects so we can hear some of her music soon!

Not much has been going on with Avril recently, but she did announce that she fired her management firm after The Best Damn Thing only sold around half of what her previous album did. Also, her tour didn’t sell as many tickets as planned. Avril hired Irving Azoff as her new manager. A source says, “Avril is hoping that new management can help her new album be more successful than the last.”

There have been some stories that started at the National Enquirer that Avril and her husband have been growing apart during Avril’s world tour, but Avril and Deryck performed together last night at Nokia Productions Premiere and then made a statement that they are still together and happy about it.
